The Solicitor representing you may agree a fixed fee with you in relation to a non-contested Divorce. The fixed fee agreed would be exclusive of VAT.  Any negotiations for a Financial Settlement would fall outside any fixed fee.

Separation

​

The Solicitor representing you may agree a fixed fee with you in relation to a simple Settlement Agreement (no negotiations). The fixed fee agreed will be exclusive of VAT.  Any Negotiations for Financial Settlements shall fall outside any fixed fee.

Nuptial Agreements

Probate

 

The fees charged in respect of the administration of the Estates are fairly standard and are based on The Law Society Guidelines.

​

The administration fees will fall into two categories

​

1. A charge for all work undertaken in relation to this matter will be carried out at our standard rates (Click here).

​

Probate Averages

​

  • No IHT- £1,000- £2,500 + VAT

  • IHT low value Estate £2,500-£7,500

  • IHT Medium value Estate £7,500- £15,000

  • High value Estate £15,000 – £100,000

​

The fees charged in respect of the administration of the Estates are fairly standard and are based on The Law Society Guidelines.

The administration fees will fall into two categories

​

  1. A charge for all work undertaken in relation to this matter. Our hourly rates are.

 

  2.  A percentage fee in relation to the value of the Estate (only applicable on estates with a gross value in excess of £750,000.00)

 

   a) 0.75%, plus VAT, of the value of any property within the Estate

   b)  1.5%, plus VAT, charge on the gross value of the remaining assets.

 

If this firm acts as the Executors in the Estate the following percentage fees may be charged in substitution of the charges detailed in paragraph 2 above (to be discussed prior to accepting instructions),

​

   a)  2 %, plus VAT, of the gross value of all assets held within the Estate

   b)  1%, plus VAT, of the gross value of all the assets held within the Estate should this firm act as executor/s.

 

It is not possible to provide an accurate estimate as to costs at this point, but the cost of probate will usually fall within the range of 3% - 5% of the gross value of the Estate. If this estimate turns out to be inaccurate, we will provide you with an update at the point our cost exceed these figures.

Where a mortgage is required, the majority of mortgage companies require us to carry out a Local Authority Search, Drainage/Water search, Environmental Searched and Chancel Check. If there is no mortgage the buyer has the right to not carry out searches, however we highly advise that searches are carried out.

  1. Local Authority Search - Cost Approx. £185.00.

  2. Drainage and Water Search - Cost Approx. £87.00.​

  3. ​Environmental Search  - Cost Approx. £54.00.

  4. Chancel Search  - Cost Approx. £28.00

  5. ​Bankruptcy Search - Cost £3.20 (per name). 

  6. OS1 Search - Cost £4.20.

The fee for a standard transfer or remortgage is £650.00 plus VAT + Disbursements.

Privately funded representation

Employment Matters

​

Employment cases can be dealt with on a contingency basis to be set against any financial award made by Tribunal. Often referred to as NO WIN NO FEE. This is capped at 30% of all compensation received (including VAT). This means that it is our usual practice that advice pre Tribunal is provided FREE OF CHARGE.

Debt Recovery

​

Most dealt collection cases under £10,000 are done on a fixed fee basis recoverable from the other side, however if the other side is not or is incapable of paying you will be responsible for the payment of those costs.

​

The fixed costs are:

​

Where the claim form is served by the court or by any method other than personal service by the claimant

​

£25 - £500 = £50

£500 - £1,000 = £70

£1,000 - £5,000  or the only claim is for delivery of goods and no value is specified or stated on the claim form = £80

£5,000+ = £100

​

Where –

  • the claim form is served personally by the claimant; and

  • there is only one defendant

​

£25 - £500 = £60

£500 - £1,000 = £80

£1,000 - £5,000  or the only claim is for delivery of goods and no value is specified or stated on the claim form = £90

£5,000+ = £110

​

Where there is more than one defendant, for each additional defendant personally served at separate addresses by the claimant

​

£25 - £500 = £15

£500 - £1,000 = £15

£1,000 - £5,000  or the only claim is for delivery of goods and no value is specified or stated on the claim form = £15

£5,000+ = £15

​

Anyone wishing to proceed with a claim should note that:

  • The VAT element of our fee cannot be reclaimed from your debtor.

  • Interest and compensation may take the debt into a higher banding, with a higher cost.

  • The costs quoted above are not for matters where enforcement action, such as the bailiff, is needed to collect your debt.

​

Court Fees

The Court fee (no VAT) is dependent on the value of the as set out below:

        £0 -   £300  =   £35

   £300 -    £500 =   £50

   £500 - £1,000 =   £70

£1,000 - £1,500 =   £80

£1,500 - £3,000 =   £115

£3,000 - £5,000 =   £205

£5,000 - £10,000 = £455

​

For straightforward licensing application for personal/premises licenses the fixed fee is £500 plus VAT.

 

For contested licensing applications work will be carried out at our standard rates (Click here).

​

Licensing Application Fee of between £100 and £180.

​

In more complex cases there may be a need for expert fees or counsel fees that usually range between £1,000 and £1,500 plus VAT.

Estate Planning

Estate planning work will be carried out at our standard rates (Click here).*

* For complex Estate Planning a percentage element may be charged. If this is to be charged this will be discussed at when initial instructions are accepted and confirmed in a client care letter.
